The design inspiration for "Lights and Shadows" came from the idea of combining the luxury of a club reception with the comfort of a residence. The designers wanted to create a space that was both public and private, with a luxurious feel in the public areas and a sense of life in the private spaces. The result is a design that is both modern and light American in style, with a focus on creating a contrast to past aesthetics.
The unique properties of this design lie in its fusion of styles and functions. The public space, which includes the lounge and dining room, uses a tranquil and dignified grey color theme. This is contrasted with an orange sofa in the lounge and a blue long bench in the dining area, creating a layered and balanced color temperature. The private spaces, on the other hand, are designed to provide a sense of life and comfort.
The design was realized using modern furniture and light American decoration. The walls are decorated with light American style wall trims and greyish delicate spray-painted walls, creating a contrast with the coarse-textured stucco walls. The central island style television wall, the dining table, and the reading area all contribute to the low-profile luxurious effect desired in residences.
The apartment, which is located in New Taipei City, is 225 square meters. The project was completed on the 30th of June in 2019. The design team, consisting of Yu Tsun Hsu and Hung Sheng Hsu, worked diligently to create a design that was both unique and functional.
The "Lights and Shadows" design project is a testament to YU Design Lab's ability to combine different styles and functions to create a unique and luxurious living space. The design, which was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, is a perfect example of the innovative and creative designs that the design lab is known for.
